Terms of Use – Hotline Ring

By using the app Hotline Ring and the website hotlinering.app, you agree to these terms of use. Please read them carefully.

2. Scope and Conclusion of Contract
These terms apply between you ("user") and the provider for the use of the Hotline Ring mobile app (iOS / Android) and the website hotlinering.app. The contract is concluded by you registering in the app and actively agreeing to the terms.
The contract language is German. The contract text is not stored separately; the current version is available via the app and at hotlinering.app/terms.
3. Scope of Services
Hotline Ring is a mobile app for anonymous voice introductions. At the press of a button, you are anonymously connected with another registered person via voice call. If both of you confirm during the call ("match"), your profiles become mutually visible and you can call each other directly thereafter.
There are two modes:
- Flirt mode — filtered by gender, age, reach (radius)
- Friends mode — filtered by common languages
The provider owes the provision of communication infrastructure, not any specific matching outcome (match, meeting, relationship).
4. Minimum Age
You must be at least 18 years old to use Hotline Ring. By registering, you confirm that you are of legal age. In case of doubt about your age, we reserve the right to require proof of age or to suspend your account.
5. Registration and Account
For registration, a valid email address, a display name, your date of birth, your gender, and a profile picture are required. Account sharing is not permitted — each account belongs to a single person.
You undertake to provide truthful information when registering and to keep it up to date. Providing an authentic profile picture serves to protect the community against catfishing and fake profiles.
6. Pricing and Subscription (applies once paid features are active)
Hotline Ring is free during the beta phase. After the beta, a subscription model will be introduced; the conditions will be communicated with sufficient notice before activation.
When a paid subscription is concluded, the following applies:
- Billing: via the respective app store (Apple App Store / Google Play). The payment terms and T&Cs of the respective store also apply.
- Term: monthly or yearly, depending on the selected plan.
- Automatic renewal: the subscription renews automatically for the respective term, unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period via the store account settings (Apple: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions; Google: Play Store → Account → Subscriptions).
- Cancellation: possible at any time via the store account settings. An account deletion via the in-app "Delete account" function does not automatically cancel the subscription — this must be done separately in the store.
7. Right of Withdrawal (consumers, paid features)
As a consumer, you have the right to withdraw from the conclusion of a paid subscription within 14 days without giving reasons. The withdrawal period begins on the day the contract is concluded.
To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us of your
decision by means of an unambiguous statement (e.g., by email to
widerruf@hotlinering.app).
Note on immediate use: When concluding a contract via the app store, the digital provision usually takes place immediately. If you have expressly consented to the immediate performance of the contract and at the same time confirmed that you lose your right of withdrawal as soon as the digital service has been provided (§ 356 (5) BGB), the right of withdrawal expires accordingly.
Consequences of withdrawal: Amounts already paid will be refunded without undue delay, at the latest within 14 days — the processing is usually carried out via the respective app store. For the pro-rata period between conclusion of the contract and withdrawal in which you have already used the service, we do not owe compensation for value unless explicit prior consent to immediate performance with waiver of the right of withdrawal has been given.
You can also declare the online withdrawal via the statutorily prescribed withdrawal button on our website starting June 19, 2026.
8. Code of Conduct
You undertake to use the app exclusively for its intended purpose — anonymous voice conversations to get to know other adult persons.
Prohibited in particular are:
- Harassment, stalking, threats, insults, or discrimination of other users (including in voice during the call)
- Hate speech, racist, sexist, homophobic, or transphobic statements
- Sexually explicit content towards persons who express no interest in it; any contact with minors
- Recording or capturing of conversations without the express consent of the call partner (also violates § 201 of the German Criminal Code)
- Advertising, spam, chain letter attempts, affiliate links
- Identity fraud, fake profiles, creation of accounts under false personal data
- Attempts to overload, probe, or manipulate the technical infrastructure (backend, voice server) (scraping, DoS, reverse engineering, automated access)
- Brokering of sexual services for payment
In case of violations, we reserve the right to immediately suspend or delete the account — without refund of any amounts paid in case of serious violations (§ 314 BGB).
9. Content / Profile Pictures
By uploading a profile picture, you confirm that you are the owner of all image rights and that no third-party rights (copyright, right to one's own image, personality rights) are violated.
You grant us a simple, non-exclusive, worldwide right limited in time to the duration of the contract to store and transmit the image exclusively for the app's function (profile display to match partners, storage on our servers). No further use outside the app takes place.
Prohibited in particular are: images with nudity / sexually explicit content, images of minors, images of other persons without their consent, images depicting violence or threats, images with illegal content, AI-generated fakes of other real persons.
10. Reporting and Moderation
A reporting function is available in the app. Each report is reviewed internally. In case of legitimate violations, the reported account may be warned, temporarily suspended, or permanently deleted.
Reports are retained for at least 12 months in order to detect repeated misbehavior. Reported persons are generally not informed of the identity of the reporting person (victim protection).
11. Termination of Contract
You can delete your account yourself at any time in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account) or by email to hi@hotlinering.app. With deletion, all your data — profiles, matches, call history, photos, reports as a reported person — will be irrevocably removed.
We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts without prior notice in case of repeated or serious violations of these terms. A permanently suspended account is not entitled to a refund of pro-rata subscription fees in case of suspension due to a culpable violation.
12. Warranty for Digital Products
Insofar as Hotline Ring provides paid digital content or services (subscription), §§ 327 et seq. BGB apply. We commit to providing the contractually owed functions for the contract duration and to providing function-preserving updates. In the event of defects, you have the statutory warranty rights (subsequent performance, termination of contract, reduction, damages under § 327i BGB).
13. Liability
Hotline Ring is a matchmaking platform. We do not broker any specific outcome (match, relationship, friendship) and are not liable for the content, statements, or behavior of other users.
Otherwise, we are liable according to the following principles:
- Unlimited for intent and gross negligence, as well as for damages from injury to life, body, or health, regardless of legal basis.
- In case of slight negligence only for breach of material contractual obligations (cardinal obligations — obligations whose fulfillment makes the proper execution of the contract possible in the first place and on whose compliance the user may regularly rely) and limited to the typically foreseeable damage.
- No liability for other damages caused by slight negligence.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the app. Maintenance windows, backend migration pauses, and short-term outages may occur.
14. Intellectual Property
All rights to the app design, the "Hotline Ring" brand, the texts, symbols, the logo, and the codebase belong to us or our licensors. Duplication, processing, or distribution without express consent in text form (§ 126b BGB) is prohibited.
15. Applicable Law and Place of Jurisdiction
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. To the extent that you are a consumer resident in the EU, mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.
The place of jurisdiction for disputes with merchants, legal persons under public law, or special funds under public law is the seat of the provider.
16. Dispute Resolution
Online dispute resolution (Art. 14 (1) ODR Regulation): The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution (ODR), which you can find at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Our email address: hi@hotlinering.app.
Consumer dispute resolution (§ 36 VSBG): We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
17. Changes
We may amend these terms of use if legal, technical, or functional changes make this necessary. Significant changes will be announced in the app and by email at least 4 weeks before they take effect. If you do not object within this period, the new version is deemed accepted. An opportunity to object will be communicated in the announcement.
18. Severability Clause
Should individual provisions of these terms be invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions remains unaffected. The statutory provision shall replace the invalid provision.
