What is Hotline Ring?
A voice-first dating and getting-to-know app. Instead of swiping or reading profiles, you press a button and get connected to someone anonymously — by voice. If you both confirm during the call, you get a match. Only then are profile picture, name and age revealed to each other.
How does matching work?
You choose Flirt mode (filtered by gender, age, radius) or Friends mode (filtered by shared language). Press the button → Hotline Ring connects you automatically with someone from the queue. Both sides hear each other immediately. During the call you can chat and then decide: match or move on.
What's the difference between Flirt and Friends mode?
Flirt mode is for dating: filtered by your preferences (gender, age, distance). Friends mode is for getting to know people independent of romance: filtered only by shared language, worldwide.
Is my voice recorded?
No. Voice calls are transmitted live — never stored, never recorded. Not even for moderation. What you say stays between you and the person on the other end.
Why do I need to be 18+?
Hotline Ring is a dating app for adults. We require 18+ for legal reasons and to protect minors.
Why can't I see the other person during the call?
That's the whole point: voice first, everything else after. We want honest connections without the filter bubble. Once you both tap "Match" during the call, your profiles are revealed to each other.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account. All of your data (profile, matches, call history, photos, reports) is removed irreversibly.
How do I report inappropriate behavior?
Every profile and call summary has a report button. Reports are moderated by us and can result in a warning, temporary suspension or permanent deletion of the reported account.
Why do you need my location?
Only for Flirt mode, so we can match people near you. Location is optional — Friends mode works without it. You can revoke the permission in your iOS/Android system settings at any time.
When will the app be on the App Store?
We're currently in closed beta on TestFlight (iOS) and Play Internal Testing (Android). We'll announce the public release on the App Store / Play Store as soon as we have a date.
How do I join the beta?
Send us an email at beta@hotlinering.app with your Apple ID email (iOS) or Google account email (Android). We'll then invite you to TestFlight or Play Internal Testing.
What if I have a problem or find a bug?
Write us at hi@hotlinering.app with a short description — screenshots, device type and app version are very helpful. Bugs from the beta phase are especially valuable.
